Got to say, I'd say it's great if I didn't know the earlier version. This version is IHMO beautiful but worse than the first one. First don't mind an apple on her hat but I do miss her hand holding apple. Also in this version her T-shirt looks far more "erased" which is bad. Another thing is that her whole face looks a bit blurred when compared wit the earlier version. Don't get me wrong, it is still a great portrait and I love her freckles but I think the changes were for the worse. But she's still beautiful.
I both like and dislike some of the changes made to your applejack portrait. I like the new less pointed shape of her face as well as the addition of the freckles and the lips and ear turned out nicer. One of the things i liked better about the older version was her eyes, i don't know what it is about this version but the eyes just seem too large and somewhat clouded, the old ones just seemed more realistic to me, might of been because she was focused on the camera but i think they looked more natural. Also the eyebrows on this one are a bit bushier and i think the more sleek ones suited her face more though these ones still look nice. Only thing that really bugs me about the new version is the apple on the hat instead of in her hand. Honestly the hand holding the apple looked great in the original, hands are always a pain to draw and you drew it more or less perfectly. The whole apple on the hat thing is just weird to me and I cant think of any reason why AJ would balance an apple on her hat instead of holding it, seeing as it wouldn't be overly balanced and probably wouldn't stay in place should she try to move. It's not going to make me dislike the picture because frankly i still love your work and this is very well drawn, but overall i liked your original piece a bit more, only thing it was really lacking in my opinion was the freckles. Cant wait to see what you make next.
Awesome! I'm just going to say, this one looks better than the other one. The apple in her hat looks better, and makes the image look better/flow easier. Possibly because her hand broke up the image a bit. Awesome job, anyway!
when I saw the thumbnail than read the description I first thought this as a joke. but after some comparison the difference and improvement if I may add is quite notable. indeed this will do fine replacing the other one in my collection
It was a less then 10 minutes fix, thats why I just moved the apple there XD When I painted this, back a few months ago, I had terrible toothache. I could barely focus, was tired etc. At the end face n proportions came out ugly, the ear in wrong perspective, and the tip of the hat kinda as well. I always hated this piece compared to the rest ._.
in general or a person? Thats a huge topic. It depends on your light source. Light and shadow will give it more depth (lighter colors for well lighted parts, darker for shadows, never pick pure black or pure white and check where bouncing light could be.
